The future way to recycle stuff
First we would like to explain to you the definitions of Waste
Clean Waste can get recycled
Untreated and unpainted; not contaminated with oils, solvents, sealants or similar materials.
Construction and Demolition Waste
Solid wastes typically including but not limited to, building materials, packaging, trash, debris, and rubble resulting from construction , re-modelling, repair and demolition operations.
Recyclable: The ability of a product or material to be recovered at the end of its life cycle and re-manufactured into a new product for reuse by others.
Recycle: To remove a waste material from the Project site to another site for re-manufacture into a new product for reuse by others.
Recycling:The process of sorting, cleansing, treating and reconstituting solid waste and other discarded materials for the purpose of using the altered form. Recycling does not include burning, incinerating, or thermally destroying waste.
Hazardous Exhibiting the characteristics of hazardous substances including, but not limited to, ignitability, corrosiveness, toxicity or reactivity
Non-hazardous Exhibiting none of the characteristics of hazardous substances, including but not limited to iginitability, corrosiveness, toxicity or reactivity.
Non-toxic Neither immediately poisonous to humans nor poisonous after too long period of exposure.
Return To give back reusable items or unused products to vendors for credit.
Reuse To reuse a construction waste material in some manner on Project site.
Salvage To remove a waste material from the Project site to another site for resale or reuse by others.
Sediment Soil and other debris that has been eroded and transported by storm or well production run-off water.
Source Separation The act of keeping different types of waste materials separate beginning from the first time they become waste.
Toxic Poisonous to human s either immediately or after a long period of exposure.
Trash Any product or material unable to be reused, returned, recycled, or salvaged.
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC's) Chemical compounds common in and emitted by many building products over time through outgassing:Solvents in paints and other coatings,
ood preservatives; strippers and household cleaners.
dhesives in particle board, fibreboard, and some plywood; and foam insulation.
When released, VOC's can contribute to the formation of smog and can cause respiratory tract problems, headaches, eye irritations, nausea, damage to the liver, kidneys, and central nervous system, and possibly cancer.Waste Extra material or material that has reached the end of its useful life in its intended use. Waste includes salvageable, returnable, recyclable, and reusable material.
Waste Management Plan A Project-related plan for collection, transportation, and disposal of the waste generated of the construction site. The purpose of the plan is to ultimately reduce the amount of material being landfilled.
OWNER WASTE MANAGEMENT GOALSOwner has established this Projects is to generate the least amount of waste possible. This requires that construction processes enusre as little waste as possible, either due to error, poor planning, breakage, mishandling, contamination,
or other factors.
Owner recognizes that waste in any project is inevitable, but indicates that as much of the waste materials as economically feasible. Reused, salvage, or recycle as required.
Minimize waste disposal to lanfills.List of materials to include the following materials:
Clean dimensional wood
Land clearing debris
Concrete Masonry Units (CMU)
Metals from banding , steel stud trim, ductowrk, piping, rebar, roofing, other trim, steel iron, galvanized sheet steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, zinc, lead, brass, and bronze.
Plastic buckets- waste reduced by using plastic lined cardboard dry packed materials.
Final Waste Management Plan:
Once the recycling options addressed in the draft Waste
Management Plan are selected, the Construction Manager create a Final Waste Management Plan, containing the following:
1. Analysis of proposed jobsite waste to be generated, including types and quantities.
2. Landfill options: The name of landfill site where trash will be disposed of.
3. Alternatives to Landfill: A list of waste materials from Project that will be separated for reuse, salvage, or recycling.
4. Meetings: A description of regular meetings held to address waste management.
5. Transportation: A description of the means of transportation of recyclable materials,whether materials will be site-separated and self-hauled to designated centres , or whether mixed materials will be collected by waste hauler and removed from site, and destination of materials.
